This policy explains what information Umi Sake ("we", "us") collects when you use our website at umisakemd.com or place an order through our online ordering system, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
Information we collect
- When you place an order: your name, phone number, email address if you choose to give one, the items you ordered, any notes or special requests, and your chosen pickup time.
- When you make a reservation: your name, phone number, party size, and the date and time you requested.
- When you contact us: whatever you send us, and your contact details so we can reply.
- Payment: card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number is entered on Stripe's own secure form and goes directly to them - we never see or store your card details. We receive only a confirmation that payment succeeded, and the last four digits for our records.
- Automatically: our website and ordering system record basic technical information such as pages viewed and approximate location derived from your IP address, used only to keep the service working and to understand how many people visit.
How we use it
- To prepare and hand over the order you placed, and to contact you about it.
- To confirm a reservation and contact you about it.
- To send order status updates by email, and by text message if you have given us your mobile number.
- To answer questions you send us.
- To keep records we are required to keep, such as sales and tax records.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
Text message (SMS) policy
We do not share your mobile number, or your consent to receive text messages, with any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes.
Message frequency varies with how often you order - typically no more than 4 messages per month.

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from us. Reply HELP for help, or contact us using the details below. Opting out of text messages does not affect your ability to place an order or to receive an email confirmation.
We send text messages only to the number you give us when placing an order, and only to tell you about that order - for example that we received it, or that it is ready for pickup. You are not added to any marketing list. To stop receiving texts, reply STOP or ask us to remove your number, and we will not text you again.
Who else handles your information
We share information only with the companies that provide the services above, and only so they can provide them to us:
- Stripe - card payments.
- Twilio - delivery of text messages.
- Our email provider - delivery of order confirmations.
- Our web host and network provider - serving this website and the ordering system, and anonymous visitor statistics.
These providers are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Order and reservation records are kept as long as we need them for accounting, tax and dispute purposes, and then deleted. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Ask us to stop texting you at any time. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Cookies
Our website does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. The ordering system uses the minimum browser storage needed to keep your cart and to remember a display preference on our staff screens.
Children
Our services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above.
